Welcome to London Business School from the Student Association
and its President, Sean Barrett.

Welcome
to London Business School! You are now part of truly diverse
community of students, academics and alumni.
Being
a business school student is hopefully going to be one of
the richest and most rewarding experiences of your life.
Undertaking your studies at London Business School and becoming
part of our community will make this experience even richer
– given the incredibly diverse, vibrant and collegiate nature
of our campus life.
The
London Business School Student Association (“the Student
Association”) is the School's student government and has
a number of key roles in the community, including:
Representing
student issues
-
We
represent the views of all students through delegates
of each of the School's core programmes (MiF, PhD, EMBA,
MBA and Sloan);
-
We cover a broad range of areas,
including Academic, Alumni, Careers, House & Ethics,
IT, Sponsorship and Sports;
We participate in a number of different
discussion forums, including the Governing Board, Faculty
Board, Teaching Awards, Programme Deans and Directors
Meetings, Admissions Committee, Alumni Board and numerous
ad hoc meetings with the Dean, Deputy Dean, Alumni Relations,
Fundraising and Sponsorship, IT, and Facilities;
-
We stay in touch with issues by constantly
communicating with our members and via our annual Student
Association Survey. This survey is a powerful tool
used to assess satisfaction by identifying and tracking
subjects that most concern students. The survey
is an important measurement of not only areas that might
need improvement, but also the progress that we have made
in previously cited areas. The Administration, Faculty,
and Staff take this feedback most seriously and their
response is both positive and immediate.
Promote
and support student activity
- We coordinate student
club activities and work towards promoting and assisting
clubs. There are currently over 80 active student led
clubs on campus, including regional, cultural, vocational
and sporting clubs;
- We allocate a budget of
approximately £60,000 to the student clubs and support
an enormous number of diverse activities.
Coordinate
community-wide events and activities
The Student Association Executive Committee is made up of 30
students from all programmes. Elections for the Executive
Committee occur in May and September each year. All students
have the opportunity to get involved, to contribute to the
ongoing development of the school, and to add to the vibrancy
of the community.
Please
let us know your thoughts on issues relating to the School
and make the most of the opportunities to get involved with
club leadership, with one of the various major school events,
or by standing for an office on the Student Association's
Executive Committee. We look forward to your help in taking
London Business School to greater heights!
Take
care and have fun!

Sean
