What are the ways I can interact with our global alumni network?
You have access to the Alumni Directory, via Portal, which contains the listings of more than 13,500 alumni home and business contact details. Search for alumni by expertise or within the enhanced classification list for industry, position level, job function, and educational and professional  qualification information; except where alumni indicate they do not wish to be contacted, you may approach them. However, we recommend you do so with well formulated questions and based on research if appropriate.

Many alumni are willing to come and speak at student events or give advice about opportunities in their section or locality if approached.

You are particularly welcome to approach members of the International Alumni Board (IAB) and leaders of alumni clubs, which include a number of London-based Professional Interest clubs as well as some 50 Regional clubs.

What student-alumni networking events are happening on campus?
Alumni clubs usually make a limited number of spaces available to students at events. Club activities include:

  • Lively fora at which to debate topical business and social issues
  • Personal and professional networking opportunities
  • Occasions to meet other alumni from leading business schools
  • Opportunities to meet industry professionals and business leaders.

I've heard about an alumni-buddy scheme. Where can I find out more about that?
Every year we ask alumni to volunteer to be an informal alumni buddy (or mentor) to current MBA students. The nature of the relationship will vary from one student/buddy pair to another but buddies might expect to be asked for advice in developing a job search strategy, on how to manage a student project, writing a CV or simply coping with life as a student at the School. To find out more, email: alumnirelations@london.edu.

MBA students participating in this scheme find it a very valuable support tool and, for alumni, it can be an enriching way to stay involved with the School.

Other Programmes have similar schemes. For information, please talk to the Programme Offices.

I'm interested in inviting an alumnus/a to speak at the school - who should I talk to?
If you have a specific alumnus/a in mind, feel free to contact them direct, unless they have indicated they don’t want to be contacted. If you are looking for ideas, you can search the Directory on Portal on the basis of industry, company, position, expertise, function or position level. You could also approach members of the IAB, Global Advisory Boards, or alumni Club Leaders to see if they are able to give you any suggestions or introductions. You may also approach Alumni Relations or the Global Advisory Boards team in External Relations.

I'm graduating soon. How is my transition to alumni status managed?
Just before you complete your programme, a member from Alumni Relations will give a presentation to your class about the alumni community and the benefits to yourself. The Information Services Division will then email you to inform you when your student mailboxes will close and advise you what the IT facilities you will now receive as a member of our alumni community. You will then receive a letter, from Alumni Relations, welcoming you to the alumni network, detailing the benefits and services you can continue to enjoy as a member of our alumni community.
